Vacuum Processing Services

The vacuum process is primarily suited for annealing or hardening a wide variety of materials. A special furnace is a sealed unit that uses a vacuum to remove air from the heating chamber. By doing so the material inside will stay exceptionally clean and scale-free.

At Precision Thermal Processing, materials can be heated up to 2250F and our furnaces can accommodate load sizes up to 2,000 lbs. with lengths up to 48”.

Hardening

The Hardening process for most alloyed components is accomplished by heating to a temperature above its critical transition temperature. The steel is then quenched and tempered to achieve the final desired properties.

Induction Processing

Induction hardening is a selective surface hardening process in which a metal part is induction-heated in an energy field (coil) and then quenched to achieve its required properties. This process allows for selective hardening of the component in chosen areas without affecting the part as a whole.
